When comparing women and men, women tend to have a number of health issues than men. This may be due to the fact that they can get pregnant and, therefore, their bodies work differently from men. It is, therefore, necessary to highlight these issues to help them know what to do to keep healthy.

Reproductive Health

In many cases, people have unprotected sex. It is not unlikely that sexually transmitted diseases may spread. Some sexually transmitted diseases may render a woman barren, unable to have children in the future, and that is why all women should get to visit a gynaecologist.

Some women may also have irregular, heavy, or painful menstrual periods. This may not be normal. A visit to the gynaecologist will help you get more information on what you need to be checking regularly and how to care for your body. Parents should also prepare and take their daughter to see a gynaecologist usually when they are about fifteen to seventeen years. It is not a must that you have to be experiencing some symptoms to see a gynaecologist.

Cancer

Cancer is often the biggest scare for women. The two most common types of cancer are breast and cervical cancer. When it comes to cancer, it is always better to catch it early for better chances of effective treatment. Some women find out when it is too late and end up having their entire breast or breasts removed. Others may even have their uteruses removed as well. It is sad, and that is why visiting your doctor regularly is paramount. There are various ways to check for breast cancer, which your doctor or gynaecologist will show you. For cervical cancer, you will need to visit your doctor and get tests and scans done.

Maternal Health

As mentioned above, women can get pregnant. During pregnancy, a lot of care is needed. Remember that you want both you and your child to be healthy. You will be carrying him or her for nine months. You need to keep in touch with your obstetrician-gynaecologist from the first day. This way you will get the right medication and information to help you and your unborn child grow safely and healthily. You want to avoid any chance of a miscarriage.

Note the above main health issues that affect women and remember that seeing a gynaecologist is important as it may be a determinant of your sexual or overall health. Learn more about women's health care from a local provider.
